Life in the
Navy
 

Shane Moore graduated High School in 1993 and joined the United States Navy on September 7th 1993. .

  He completed basic training at Great Lakes Naval center in Great Lakes Illinois and was sent to the USS Yorktown CG-48. The military life was a large jump for a young man. His first naval paycheck he promptly wasted on a thirteen hundred dollar stereo that he still owns to this day!

  Shane excelled in military life. He participated in the Bosnian campaigns; "Secure Democracy" and "Provide Hope."

  During Shane's naval service he earned;
-two Battle efficiency awards
-Nation Defense Medal
-sea service award
-a letter of commendation from Capitan D.R. Ellison of the USS Yorktown.
-he was the first seaman qualified as petty officer of the watch
-he was the first seaman qualified as officer of the deck.
-leader of the on board emergency training team.
-leader of gun mount 52 during GQ. (Aft 5-inch gun mount)
-Honorable Discharge

  Shane's other naval achievements are not to be listed publicly. Shane finished his individual ready reserve commitment on September 7th 2001.
